Your First Pick

  1. Log in to RF device
  2. Select Pick task
  3. Scan location
  4. Scan item
  5. Enter quantity
  6. Scan label
  7. Move to next pick

RF Device

Your handheld RF device shows:

  • Location to go to
  • Item to pick
  • Quantity needed
  • Where to put it

Single Order Pick

Pick one order at a time. Best for:

  • Large orders
  • Special handling
  • High-value items

Batch Pick

Pick multiple orders at once. Best for:

  • Small orders
  • Similar items
  • Same zone

Common Tasks

Task 1: Single Order Picking (WF-009)

When to Use: For one order at a time.

Steps:

  1. Log In

    • Turn on device
    • Enter user ID
    • Enter password
  2. Get Assignment

    • Select Pick from menu
    • System assigns order
    • Screen shows first pick
  3. Go to Location

    • Read location on screen
    • Walk to that spot
    • Scan location barcode
  4. Verify Item

    • Screen shows item needed
    • Find item at location
    • Scan item barcode
  5. Enter Quantity

    • Screen shows quantity
    • Count and pick items
    • Enter quantity picked
  6. Confirm Pick

    • Scan pick label

Tip: Always scan location first. This prevents wrong picks.


Task 2: Batch Picking (WF-010)

When to Use: For multiple orders at once.

Steps:

  1. Get Batch

    • Select Batch Pick
    • System assigns batch
    • Screen shows orders in batch
  2. Pick to Cart

    • Cart has slots for each order
    • Screen shows which slot
    • Put items in correct slot
  3. Follow Sequence

    • Device guides you through warehouse
    • One location at a time
    • May pick for multiple orders at same spot
  4. Confirm Each Pick

    • Scan location
    • Scan item
    • Enter quantity
    • Scan slot label
  5. Complete Batch

    • Visit all locations
    • Device says "Batch Complete"
    • Deliver cart to packing

Task 3: Handle Exceptions

Short Pick: Cannot find enough items.

  1. Screen asks for quantity
  2. Enter what you can pick
  3. Press F4 for short reason
  4. Select reason code
  5. Continue to next pick

Wrong Item: Scanned item doesn't match.

  1. Device beeps
  2. Shows "Wrong Item"
  3. Check you're at right spot
  4. Try scanning again
  5. If still wrong, call supervisor

Location Empty: No items at location.

  1. Scan location
  2. Device asks for quantity
  3. Enter 0
  4. Confirm location is empty
  5. System will re-allocate

Task 4: Catch Weight Entry

When to Use: For meat, poultry, and produce.

Steps:

  1. Pick Items

    • Go to location
    • Scan item
  2. Weigh Items

    • Place on scale
    • Read weight
  3. Enter Weight

    • Device prompts for weight
    • Type total weight
    • Press Enter
  4. Verify Tolerance

    • System checks vs. expected
    • Green = OK
    • Yellow = Warning, verify
